The name of Mastellina has medieval origins: from mastellum, vase for wedding rings. The village has a valuable urban layout thanks to its historic buildings, fountains and some rustics.
Of particular importance is the house of origin of the famous painter Francesco Guardi (1712-1792) decorated with a sacred wall painting, with windows framed in stone and an ancient portal bearing the family's coat of arms. Here stands one of the oldest churches in the Val di Sole dedicated to Sant'Antonio Abate, initially run by an order of religious who were in care of a hospice linked to that of Campiglio. The church is decorated inside with precious altars and frescoes by the Baschenis. The village bar is located on the main road.
The church of Mastellina is dedicated to Saint Anthony the Abbot. Numerous frescoes dating back to the first decade of the 17th century are still visible inside. Of particular note is the high altar, featuring late-Gothic statues depicting Mary and Child, Saint Anthony, and John the Baptist. These statues also appear on the leather antependium. The altar on the right dates back to 1629, while on the left is the Crucifix with St. Charles and St. Catherine. A peculiarity is the bell tower, consisting of a single bell.
